We need to return to a balanced federal budget. I believe there is a path forward to improve our economy. One of the first steps in shoring up our economic situation should be to once again return to a balanced federal budget. I was instrumental in the enactment of a balanced budget for the four years leading up to the terrorists attacks on 9-11. Because of those attacks, our economy suffered greatly. However since that time the government has adopted out of control spending and never looked back -- it has proven very damaging to our economy. We balanced the federal budget before and we can do it again.
